Real Madrid have confirmed that veteran right-back Dani Carvajal has suffered a serious knee cruciate ligament rupture and will undergo immediate surgery.

Carvajal clashed with Jeremie Pino in stoppage time as Real Madrid beat Villarreal 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday and was stretchered off in tears as it was immediately clear he would be out for a long time.
